Odd Couple: Trust and Social Media.

Last week I attended a fascinating event in Manhattan called “The Trust Summit Breakfast”.  It featured two pairs of authors who collaborated on two business books on the topic of Trust.  Specifically: Charles H Green and David Maister, co-authors of The Trusted Advisor (with Rob Galford). And Chris Brogan and Julien Smith, co-authors of Trust Agents.  Both are considered must-read books.  I...

Hopenhagen: Climate change 2.0

Earlier this month, I posted some thoughts related to cleantech and sustainability innovation, with respect to the impact that changes in the field of intellectual property may have on accelerating discoveries and products. I specifically talked about the nascent, but very exciting work underway with the GreenXchange, being championed by Nike, Creative Commons, and Best Buy, [...]

Two New Terms: Digital Vagabond and Delinquents Explained

Yesterday I was in a meeting where two new terms surfaced. The first I came up with, the other a peer of mine created: Digital Vagabonds: This came up in a discussion about how many people don’t have a presence on specifically Facebook, but really this applies to anything online. That got me thinking [...]

What's Fun Got To Do With It?

If someone told me piano stairs or flooring of any kind could be funny outside of the 1988 movie "Big" starring Tom Hanks, I'd be surprised. But Volkswagon caught people's attention with its piano stairs viral campaign.

I only relate this to enterprise 2.0 because the video was mentioned in a recent blog post, "Maximizing Business Value from Enterprise 2.0 through Fun & Motivation" by Rex Lee. He highlights:
"Fun, as a design principle shouldn...

What is the right relationship model for social apps within the enterprise?

I was linked this morning towards an article of the BusinessWeek that is discussing some statements of Socialtext CEO Eugene Lee about the preferable model of relationship for internal social applications. SocialText CEO Eugene Lee argues that Twitter might be a better model than Facebook for next-gen communications within companies, so-called Enterprise 2.0. Facebook’s trouble? Reciprocal [...]
